A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. It is a type 1 pouch which was made by many different makers from 1942 to 1944. Boyt made some U.S.iconM.C. marked in 1945. If the color is correct in the picture it appears to be khaki. Khaki went to OD in mid to late 1943. Those two items make it more desirable. Worth maybe $5 or so more then an OD to the right buyer. I don't know if there is such a thing as a rare maker. Then came the type 2's. Again many makers. When I started they were about $2 mint. Then they went to about $5. Now somewhere over $30-35 for mint pouches. You can go nuts collecting the different makers, my wife will verify that.

And though guys have been using them since WW2, they were designed for a belt not the stock.

These pictures shows some different color shades.

    Some 30 round pouches

Holy Cow! That's where all the pouches are! I like the transitional ones made of part khaki and part 'greenish khaki'. I have one of the JQMD 1942s just like the first one in the top picture.
