    Two Rare Enfields

I have two Enfields; one is one of a kind, the other is a late model surplus sniper rifle with scope. This latter rifle I used for many years as a deer rifle. It was delivered in the rough green wooden box with separate metal scope box slotted into place in the main container. The boxes are long gone. The rifle has fore end wood trimmed away and is still very accurate.

The second Enfield is, I think, the last one to come from the Long Branch facility. It was presented to the retiring director/CEO of the plant, Hugh Anderson whose widow, Vera, gave it to my father, who was a close friend of Hughs.
The workers at the plant had saved up choice pieces of tiger walnut, and matched and mated the grain. They then polished the blued, not Parkerized, action. This rifle has no serial #. He must have been popular with the staff; I have never seen a more beautiful military piece. This rifle is in pristine-not unfired condition. I doubt if it has fired more than 100 rounds.

Is there a market for these two rifles? I will be grateful for informed advice.

The Longbranch would be worth an arm and a leg to a collector if it is that rifle, the sniper not so much now it has been bubbad and the box is long gone.

The sniper rifle could still be worth a good bit, even restored. The other.....yes, would love to have it.

I've done that...the trip from Edmonton to Wainwright is 2 hours drive. I managed it in 5 hours one day and had a way better time. Time had to stop in town before we got to my place, we got fetched up in the last hotel and it took about 3 hours to get clear of it...

On a brighter note, we know that the last made LB is a real special...rather fitting for the last no4 mk1*. Do we know its serial number from else where?
