    October 8th 1943 Winchester M1 Garand

This WWII Rifle is one of my favorites, Like most WWII Rifles it's a (RIA) Rock Island Arsenal rebuild, WWII Receiver, Trigger and rear sights all Winchester (WRA) correct for the October 1943. Unfortunately the Stock, Barrel, Gas Cylinder and Op-Rod are Springfield but the rest of the rifle is 1943 Winchester with a half real Bayonet (metal only but refinished) since it's dated 1943, the other parts are replicas (Scabbard and handles)

The Ammo, Coins and Lucky strike pack are all 1943.

    WRA Trigger Guard

    100% WRA Lockbar Rear Sights..

What is strange is that the butt plate is WRA on a Springfield stock..

Rifle's gorgeous. We'd love to see more detail though, as in internal pics. Is there a stock mark from the inspector? I think you'll find your bayonet is a Chinese reproduction.

I thought it might me, it was rusty when it was given to me. I had to remove the rust and had it re-parkerized.

Here are a couple more internal pictures ( I will get the stock pictures tonight)

Now that's dedicated. That's detail...more than we're used to. Barrel is a nice '55 re-barrel, all the secondary markings are clear and honest. Looks to be lots of original parts in this one. Re-built at Rock Island...looks like a rack marking in the heel of the butt. If you had the bayonet re-parked then it may be correct, the scabbard is definitely a repro and the marks look like the bayonet is but I can't see close enough. The repros were so badly finished, they often rusted in storage...and they looked to have been painted. This is one and if you look at the marks, it's spot on for yours...

I am trying to learn as much as I can from experts like yourself and you wont learn if you dont' ask,

The Barrel gauges at ME 1+ TE 2+

here is a picture of the inside area of the trigger group

After looking at it closer the Ordinance bomb logo has a double ring which is a dead give away that it's a reproduction.

    here is a real one.

I will be on the hunt for a correct one.

Here is one I picked up a while ago just in case I wound up with a Korean M1icon Garand

I looked all over the stock and I can't find any other markings.

Can't say as I'm much of an expert. There are some here though. They'll be along. Bayonets aren't that hard to find. I happened to get a 1905 made in 1917 at a gun show after a younger collector referred me to see a "Repro" that was just over there...when I checked it out, it was an as new bayonet with a Mk1 scabbard...for $130 CDN...it now goes with my LL M1icon, a Springfield 3XX XXX.

    SA Rebuild?

Am I seeing an SA electropenciled on the receiver leg? That would say it was rebuilt at Springfield. Either it was done twice, or the stock is off a Rock Island rebuild.
Real men measure once and cut.

  10. Thank You to Bob Seijas For This Useful Post:

I believe it was done at Springfield in 1964 (pencil marking), I believe you are correct on that the stock is off an RAI rebuild. that makes a lot more sense now that you pointed that out.
