Proof Mark (V inside Circle) Assistance!

    FIREARM: Swissicon 1842 Percussion Musket

    MARK: V in Circle

LOCATION: Top of Barrel and left side of stock (on wood).

NOTE: Found 6 other references (i.e., 1895 Spanish Mauser, etc.) to "V" inside of circle - all asking what it is and getting no answer.

On a Swissicon firearm, a possible explanation is that it is a mark of the canton of Vaud. (the 3rd largest canton).

How about posting these references? They might provide a clue.
