A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... They sure were neat to handle when they were dressed like that. Seems like a space age since we drew those from the US troops for our use. 1976 actually...then in about 88 we saw the US troop from Ft Drum show up with A2's...and M9's.
    Regards, Jim

I built my first A1 clone in 1981 using a Rock Island Armory, (Sendra), lower. I was issued Florida Army National Guard M16A1 rifles in ROTC in 81-82. I went through basic training at Fort Benning with rebuilt XM15E1 rifles in '85. There were H&R, Colt and GM receivers in the mix. When I got to Fort Bragg, we had original and rebuilt M16A1 rifles from all of the manufacturers. The A2 didn't get issued until '86 if memory serves. I still like the original AR-15-M16-M16A1 design. It shoulders well, is reliable when maintained properly and is super easy to shoot. The best part was that it was LIGHT to carry.

The prototype AR15s had a sling swivel there. The moved the swivel, but kept the capability on the grip.

    early parts

    Attachment 53624Attachment 53625Attachment 53626Attachment 53627[ATTACH=CONFIG]53628[/ATTA

Early parts are difficult to find now and there will always be a demand. Most are ok with the retro parts but they do not make everything

I just finished Duracoating my A1 upper, lower, grip, handgaurd and stock earlier today. I have been buying parts for this build what seems like forever now but its finally ready to be put together and I have to literally put together every single part except for the bolt carrier. I'm looking forward to it and I'll post pics when its finished

Here's a pic of all the parts ready to get started later tonite. The duracoat color is Tactical Black T-1 . it looks a lot like how a new lower looks with no CLP o4n it just the dry type 3 anodizing and this color from duracoat matches that look almost perfect
