A public thank you to Peter Laidler

Everyone knows that Peter is "god" when it comes to these scopes I was fortunate to "acquire" 3 number 32 scopes, that had been handed in on various rifles all in a distressed state. I sent the first one, a Mk 1 Canadianicon scope to Peter, and it came back as good as new, no surprises there! I sent off the next one, a Mk 3, and even though I was an engineer by trade (ex REME) I did not like the look of it, and it wouldn't be something I would NOT even contemplate.

I sent it to Peter, and received a very funny letter telling of his woes with this scope. It made me laugh, but I do realize what a pig it must have been. Needless to say it has returned as good as new (or even better)
Many people are quick to complain when things go wrong, I just wanted to say a public "thanks" to Peter and all his hard work.
I still have the other Mk1 if you fancy another challenge unless someone wants to make an offer on it
Thanks again Sir. A gentleman in every sense

    I'll second that.
He worked wonders on a Mk 3 scope for me.

Thanks for your kind words but no thanks are sought or needed. That actual telescope was mentioned by Merlin elsewhere on the forum!

As for the Mk1 that you have, it's a good time to illustrate the fact that as I say to those looking to buy a repop, they are out there, some in dire need, but all - or most - are recoverable.

I have sent what seems like a mountain of PM's to Peter on various issues over the last few years, some of them probably pretty dumb, and he has answered them all with good grace .

In his own fashion, of course .

For a Pom, Peter is a pretty good bloke.

I am forever in his debt for the help and guidance he has given me.

The quality of Peters advice undermines that expression "you only get what you pay for"

Strangely most of the Poms, on this site are pretty good blokes.

Yes! It´ s one thing to be an `expert´on any given subject. But it´s worth a lot more if the expert is prepared to help others. And I am truly grateful for his help with the trigger on my Enfield. As I shoot regularly and the rifle is one of the few pleasures in my old age, I think of Peter Laidlericon´s help at least once a week.
