    7.62x51mm NATO question

    Hi everyone,

While reading Collector Grade Books monster volume on the FAL, I saw references to the T48 (the US FAL) being tested with 7.62x51mm API (amour piercing incendiary) rounds. I've never been able to find a US M-series designation for this round, so does anyone know what nation manufactured it and what the specs on it were?

Thanks, Tom, but what I'm looking for is something that states the type of powder and amount.

along time ago, I bought some 30 cal., 150 grain (not 163gr. from 30-06) AP's that were pulled and I loaded them in 7.62x51 casings, which I shoot in my M1Aicon. I used current load spec's from FMJ 150 loads.
    They shoot just fine.

I don't think you will ever find the powder type or charge as Mil ammo manufacturers keep their brews close to there chests. I even wrote to ADI here in Aus to find the powder and charge for our 7.62 ball and was gently given 308 loads with a variety of powders.

The closest you can get is cartridges of the world publication has loads in the back for the military recipes. Then take the powder and ask around these forums what it is. Some are listed like IMR 4895, the rest are the hidden recipes. They are known though. The ammo you ask about likely wasn't released for consumption though.
