A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Thanks. I have a line on some surplus ammo and hope to test it soon.
One hickup. I disassembled to BLOicon the woodwork and broke the head off the rear trigger guard stop screw which looks like it is going to be a bit of a challange to remove.

Guys don't know it, but this is how all of the Turkish98's looked when shipped out of Germanyicon. There is a mint M98 Turk in the Frenchicon Army Museum in Paris that deserves attention. In its' as-issued 7.65mm caliber, a real nice keeper.

Broken 98 screws. Oh, yes! I've had 2 !!! Get the smallest easy-out screw tool you can buy, do not toss it!! As they say, follow the instructions!

Researched the issue a bid and ez out seems to be the ticket if I can find one small enough. Does anyone know the diameter and thread pitch of the stop screws? I would like to chase the threads if I can get the offending screw out.

Avoid the spiral flute easy outs at all costs if possible, go with the straight flute version. The spiral flute easy out has a greater swaging effect than the straight flute version will actually lock the screw in tighter if the threads are galled or rust locked. Another benefit of the straight flute is it doesn't break as easy as the spiraled flute.
Providing you can find one of the appropriate size you may also consider drilling the pilot hole using a left hand twist drill. A lot of times it will dig in and back the screw right out.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your rifle is most definitely a rework.
Butt plate should be in the white, so should the stock disk be.
The 1908 as so many other Mausers, has a detachable rear sling swivel, so there should be only the base.
And there are a few more points.
Despite this, it's a nice rifle (shooter), just not a collector.

Looks like you've come in looking for a fight. Bet we can get someone else to swear it's right...me? I don't care. But that swivel loop hasn't been made by hand. That's what he asked and that's what I referred to. Told him about the paint too. Bye now...
    Regards, Jim

Sorry, I must disappoint you here, I am not looking for a fight. That's just childish and ridiculous, especially when it comes from a member with 7113 posts.

Also it is very disappointing, that a member with your experience (7113 post) doesn't recognize a Brazilianicon 1908 Mauser, which is quite common BTW.

Anyway, for all the people who are serious, here is a picture what it should look like:
