    Dutch P1914 find in Afghanistan

I got the following email from a gentleman in the Dutch Army stationed in Afghanistan:

As a Dutch person i am still thankfull for the US people who where figthing for or freedom now almost 65 years ago.

With the information this Pattern 1914 will hopefull go to or national army museum.
The .303 Ammo, i found here was in poor condition. However the shots i did fired did hit the target.
The taliban will not use it any more.

    There are some pictures included

Greetings, SM Buhrmann, H.E. Dutch EOD

Guessing from the "EOD" initials, I would think this guy and his unit has a very tough job! Unfortunately, the pictures are low resolution, but still interesting to look at. Note that there are a few of him popping off a few rounds.

Here are the pictures of the P1914 he found:

Wow, considering where he got it from its in pristine shape, hell I have seen what they have over there and they are for the most part pretty sorry looking guns.

I would like to have that Remington myself

Hi Rick, I made it over here too. Too many IDs on too many forums......need to consolidate it down to one.

NICE P-14. I only have a Eddystone, but I really like the fatboy stock on them. They and the M1917 are actually my favorite milsurp bolt actions to shoot.

Glad to see you all (in case any of you are from the South!!) over here! And a couple of fellow-Washingtonians to boot!!

The closest I came to buying a P1914 was at a gunshow about 6 years ago. I nice Winchester for $200. Unfortunately, I had just made a "heavy" purchase a couple of weeks previously and had to pass. I still dream about that rifle!!

Last week I traded a RE P14 with a Model of 1917 stock. The hand guards had red paint inside the rivet holes. Nothing much matched, but was an excellent shooter.
Thanks for the pic and story.
