CASE STG TEL No8 Mk1 Leather strap dimensions?

    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to measure their CASE STG TEL No8 Mk1 Leather strap dimensions for me please?

I will never come across an original strap here in the states.

I want to have one made, I know a expert leather craftsman, He would put his stamp on it of course so no need to worry about trying to pass something as a fake. Besides it would be obvious it was a custom made replacement. I have not been able to find much info online about his part of the no4 mk1 (T) CES.

If anyone is willing to give the length, width and thickness, stitching pictures and buckle pictures so I can see how they put them together to give to my friend I would greatly appreciate it.

Below is a pict I found online to show what strap I would like to replicate.

    Thanks,

    Corco

Save yourself a bit of trouble Corco. There's a bloke in the UKicon that's been making them for years now. Perfect replicas. Jonathan Moore, a leather work maestro and he used to frequent this site. Anyone out there know how to contact him for Corco? Tell him I need my leather bondage gear repairing too........ Just joking......

Here's mine, which I believe to be genuine. Leather is 106 cm long (plus the buckle beyond that). 24mm wide and about 3.5mm thick.
It is a completely useless object, as it is impossible to open the tin once you have threadedAttachment 69299Attachment 69300Attachment 69301Attachment 69302Attachment 69303Attachment 69304 the strap through the keepers on the tin.

You are right Rob. Totally useless. The only good thing about these straps was that they were used as trouser belts by the Armourers

The later ones we had were joined with a tapered and sewn 'scive' (sorry if that's not the right word). The join sometimes/most times wouldn't fit under the steel loops so the new strap was just left in the chest and the sniper reverted to doing what he always did. Used a webbing strap in the telescope box and stole the sling for his trousers!

I always preferred the web strap for the No.8Mk.1 case. Unfortunately, originals are equally or even more difficult to find.

I bought one of Moore's replica straps for a No. 8 MK. I case. It fit perfectly. By the way, the straps are short if one is thinking about carrying them in the field. I cannot recall seeing a single photo of one being carried in the field.

To open the case one must slacken off the strap on both sides.

There must have been a lot of Armourers with secure trousers because most of the straps are missing from the No. 8 MK. I cases that I have seen.
