Smile Mk4 #2 ANNB finally ! and scoped now too

Finally found a so called "irish contract" 1954 that is 98% out 100% in. Blind old man can't shoot irons so I bought a S&K mount and put a vintage 4X dot and CH Redfield on it. Had one of those strap on cheeck pads for an M-1 and it worked fine to bring me up to the scope. Have a mold that shot very well in a Ruger No.1 303 so I duplicated that load and tomorrow (weather willing) the old gal will speak.
It will be "military day" for me at the range as I taking my faux 03A4, M-1 NM and the SMLE. They are all scoped with good glass so I can't blame not being able to use the irons effectively anymore.

I also just bought an S&K mount recently for a No4 and was impressed. Parker Hale sporter BSA M47 C 1945. TR stamp on wrist. Lyman 4X post reticle,Sterling MG sling (someone here mentioned this sling and it works nicely). PH 5 round magazine. A before and after too.

    Thumbs up Nice rig !

Nice to see someone else realizes old high quality scopes are a great value in our "gotta be new or it's no good" world.

I deal in classic scopes on fleabay and anyone who tells me an El Paso Weaver, Kollmorgen, Denver Redfield, Lyman, Bausch or Unertl is NG is just uninformed.
Outside of Leupold and Nightforce there is only the Pacific rim crap out there "made in the USAicon".

I finally got mine shooting well by taking off all the top hand guards. I've ordered two books on accurizing the SMLE which I assume will cure the lousy bedding.

My latest toy with an old USA made Burris. It shoots better than most commercial bolt actions. An overbore scope on a NM M-1 is a joy !

    Old scopes

I used to have a Weaver wide angle on my 444 Marlin 336 Micro Groove and it stood up well to the recoil I didn't, still it was a good rifle for pigs absolutely flattened them I run 4 NXS's and a March 8-80 next buy is a S&B PMII
Like the saying goes "In days of old we had men of steel and buildings of wood, today we have buildings of steel and men of wood." it is a saying and in no way referencing anyone or thing on this web site Hokay!
