    Lee Remington Navy Contract

thought I would put this on the Kragicon forum. I have a Lee Remington 45/70 that I have had for about 40 years. I got it to restore for my collection , but never did anything with it. The bad news is that it needs a stock (Cracked and broken badly and glued together with missing wood replaced, maybe good for a stock duplicator only) and the front part of the bolt. Most of the other parts are there including the mag. It is a Navy contract rifle stamped with WWK and Anc. I would like to get about 500 for it, is there any interest, if so I'll send pics metal is in good shape. Email me directly if interested.. tmorisco@swva.net

Is the bolt handle ahead or behind the rear reciever ring? Remingtons were behind the ring and used a longer magazine. I have a Remington magazine. I had one of the first Navy trials rifles that was sporterized. I believe these were under 1012 serial number. I think mine was 1010. Shot well. The ones with the bolt handle ahead of the reciever ring were made by the Sharps Co if I remember right. That bolt head would be hard to find.

rifle has been sold, but Ken for your info the bolt handle is just like a modern rifle, to the shooters side of the bridge. It is clearly marked remington and in the 50K plus ser range. The navy number was 1914
