    Nazi marked VZ24.

A friend called me today and said 'I have this old rifle I need to get rid of. I think it's a Mauser. You want it?'
So I go to see it, and it's a sportered Czechicon VZ24, and was about to tell him 'nah', when I saw the Nazi eagle on the barrel and the full Czech lion on the receiver. Then I notice the 98k bent bolt, and THEN realise it's sitting in a cut laminated stock ( strangely, with no inlet for the bent bolt ) Also an S/42 marked mag follower.
$100 later, it's mine. I rarely buy sporters, but there's somethng about this one. Obviously a bring back. It's rusty as hell, but can be cleaned. It will be restored.
Couple of questions..I'm guessing this rifle was indeed put in this 98k like stock. Any photo evidence anywhere to show VZs were fitted with laminated stocks? I find it odd that it has no inlet. No need for it because it originally had a straight bolt?
The bolt it does have has some markings unfamiliar to me..will clean it tomorrow and see if I can see them better.
I think this is one worth restoring. Any thoughts concerning this rifle will be very appreciated.

A bring-back? Not so sure, but it was nice before meeting up with Bubba.

Figured it was probably brought back and made into a cheap deer rifle. No import marks. Of course, could have probably been brought in before import stamps were required.

Cleaned the bolt handle a bit....this is on the underside. That is indeed a Czechicon lion over a crown over R. ( crap camera ) Crown over R also on extractor.

Spent the day cleaning it, looks ten times better. Question about the bolt...looks like a standard 98k bolt, but does have the Czechicon lion and crown over R. Also the serial number has the sufix 'dd' in that typical Germanicon script. Any info?

Vz24s were never made with bent bolts. Hence there not being the cutout in the stock. I'd say it had its bolt bent during sporterising. Numbers in bolt and reciever matching?

I had a thread about a month ago about my vz24 and the term "beautewaffen" there's some good info from some of the guys there that could help you. If your vz24 has nazi marks it might actually be a "g.24t" basically a vz24 manufactured in Czechoslovakiaicon under nazi occupation. If yours is a REAL nazi manufactured vz24/G24t then it will have a DOU code and date of either '41 or '43 on the reciever and G24t on the side. Yours has a Czech lion so I doubt it. Maybe a mix master? Old k98 barrel vz24 reciever and bent bolt?

There was a cut out for a bent bolt, just found it, had been filled in just like the disc and sling slot. I have since seen several pics of VZ24s with bent bolts in 98k laminate stocks.
This is not a G.24. I'm guessing it's a standard VZ24 that just fell into the system and was marked with the eagle at some point. There is also an 'L3' marking next to it that couldnt be seen before I cleaned it.
Again, the bolt has a 'dd' suffix... is that not Germanicon?

I'm no where near qualified to give any more advice/answers. I basically just rattled off some info iI remembered being given by some of the real experts on a similar topic. I'm pretty sure one of my mausers had that "dd" prefix and it just might be my early vz24 not sure, could be entirely wrong and just imagining it. Il check n post pics when I get home. Very interesting rifle though, if only it could talk n set all our minds at ease
