    My Krag

    Hello all.

Finally, I got around to take some, not good, photos of my Kragicon. I got it from my Grandfather, these is the rifle he was issued with in april 1940.
Sadly, I did not ask him about the war. Now it is to late. But, after the war he used the rifle for moose and reindeer hunting. He also used it at some competitions, he did add a peep sight to it. He had several guns, but these one was something special to him, always with the muzzle cap, cleaned it once he got back from the range. Oh, all the questions I wish I had asked him.

Part from the peep sight, the rifle is 100% original, matching numbers.
When I did open the lid on the butt end, the cleaning rope was still there, guess unused. He used the cleaning rod.

Now the rifle is in my home. I love it! I really do. I take the rifle to the range, 3-4 times a month. There is nothing wrong with it`s accuracy, witch can not be sad about the man holding it
There is a club here, for old military rifles, they has to be original, no peep sight and made pre WWII.
I am the only member under 60
Boy, do we have fun, and wow, these old man sure knows how to shoot.

Here are some photos, I will get around to take some better later.

Oh, forgot, the Krag is made in 1901, here in Norwayicon.

Nice rifle, complete with what looks like a .303 pull through. Excellent history too.

    Thanks.
Here is a group I did some days ago. 4 shot, then 4 shots one more time.
Yeah, nothing wrong with the rifle, at all.
Can not wait to try it more, find out how it goes, not only on 100m, but also on 200-400meters.

Will keep the forum up to date.

    Have a good day all.

I take it that rifle's in 6.5x55...that caliber would be far wiser for me here in Canadaicon than 30-40...easier to get brass and ammo by far.

    You are right.
    6.5*55, a very good caliber.
Next fall, I will take the rifle out hunting, take it back to the mountains my Grandfather hunted in with it.
I also have two bayonets for it, one is the original Kragicon bayonet, the other is made here in Norwayicon, during the war.
Will post photos later of them.

    Sorry for my late reply.
Yers, it is the link to my family, grandfather that makes these Kragicon so special.
Wish I did ask more about the rifle and what my grandfather was involved in during WWII. (But, don't we all think about these things just when it is to late..?)

We only see a few of that model of rifle around here. There's one for sale right now with a heavy target barrel but otherwise it's the same as yours. Bet they both shoot little tiny ratholes...
