Does anyone know where one might find a new original Inglis recoil spring. Do they still have any in the wrap in Canada? I know I won't find one like that here in the states.

You do mean for the pistol? The only place you may find them here could be CanadianGunNutz...maybe give Joe Salter a jingle...he has stuff. He's close to you also. In the wrap though, good luck.

Is there a reason you particularly want an original Inglis spring? The Browning/FN or aftermarket BHP spring will work if you need a spring to replace a worn one for shooting purposes.

If you are planning to shoot it, I recommend a 20 or 21lb Wolff spring. I realize that "milspec" is deemed to be 17-18lb, but I have run a 21lb spring in my BHPs quite successfully for years with factory ammo - from 9mm 115gr ball thru 124gr and 147gr HP.

Used original springs tend to be worn out, and I don't know a source for NOS Inglis springs.

In my opinion, the best use for a "factory" High Power spring is to replace the (14lb) factory spring in a CZ75...

I've got plenty of original, nos FN BHP recoil springs and other nos parts for them including extractors, firing pins and other small parts. Both FN and Inglis.

No apology necessary. I was just lucky to be able to latch onto as many Inglis parts as were offered up back during the heyday of my importing from Canada. I've never seen the Inglis mfg recoil springs new in the wrap but they are identical to the FN factory springs as far as I know. The FN parts were all left over from an MoD contract for laser simulator conversions done at FATS in Atlanta in the late 90's if memory serves. I grabbed all of that stuff at a SCACA show from a guy who worked there. I can offer prices much less than factory Browning prices which are pretty high and it's all new condition.

That sounds about right. We were big into that at that point.

I'd guess FATS probably did some for the Canadian DND as well as many other countries. They're still going strong over there as far as I know. I'm thinking about working some SCACA shows again in Greenville starting next year. It's expanded into one of the better shows in the SE USA or so I'm told with 700-800 tables. I've been out of them since 2007!

Well the main reason for asking is the requirement that the government had for the Inglis to be able to use the higher pressure Canadian ammo for the Sten guns. I am trying to remember the exact poundage the springs were rated at. I had the information years ago and it was higher then the standard Hi-Power. My Inglis was a vet bring back and and I've had it for about 40 years now. It has been reliable as can be but I had been thinking that it's time to change the spring if for nothing else then it's age. Plus the fact that I do use high performance ammo in it.
