    A good place to start is the thread. If it burns it's cotton, if it melts its synthetic. They used cotton in the 40's and now they use sythetic.

    Jimb,

    I've gotten to doubt about everything I see that is USGI M1icon carbine related because of so many scams and fakes, but I also think this case is authentic from what I see.
