Absolutely true. You see pics and hear stories, but those of us that have been out know we wouldn't be too interested in drawing our own fire. And that's what would happen.

Turn-about's fair play, here's a Kraut with a Thompson. Most soldiers did not use captured weapons because everybody knew the sound of the other guy's stuff and did not want to be mistaken for the enemy in a firefight. I've never heard a GI say he saw a
German with an
M1 even though it was far superior to their bolt guns.
