WWI Flack Vest Arrived Today, Anyone Have Info on them?

An old friend arrived with an interesting piece of equipment a WWI flack vest.
It looks very similar to the one in the "Osprey Men-At-Arms Series Book # 157, Page 4.
In this book it is referred to as "A flexible waistcoat and scale armour"
    I will have pictures soon.

Pictures of the vest. The cloth is quite fragile and I am looking for a box to store it.

That's different. Not what we've seen before. Do you know if it's US? The Germanicon type was far different from what I've seen. That would a scarce item...

From my historical readings, I can tell you that heaps of different body shields were made and sold commercially during the Great War. The one you have is similar at least to the Wilkinson Safety Service Jacket and Berkley's patented Flexible Armour Guard of 1916. Both, and others are shown in Anthony Saunders' book, Dominating The Enemy; War in the Trenches 1914-1918, which I might add has two chapters covering some of the many 'personal protection items of the war.
