US Navy Pistol Rack for 45 ACP 1911-A1

    Dear Collectors,

I went yesterday to Militalia, the usual military fair held twice a year in Novegro close Milan, and I bought this US Navy Pistol Rack for six .45" ACP 1911-A1 pistols Ord. Ref. 42807 dated July 1944.
I just saw it over books in the past and in rare military auctions in the web.
I wonder if it is original or just a repro.

Anyway, it took me about three hours to restore and completely clean it.
I removed and cleaned from green oxidation the 42 brass screws and brass washers and greased the leather parts which were hardened due to the age.

Here are some pictures before, during and after the restoration and of the stamps over the wooden board.

The 1911 pistol you see in the picture is just a plastic model.

You're welcome. In other place someone told me that all that green oxid take many years to make. So that should it be a repro it was made long long time ago.

It looks original to me. I have only seen one other, at the Show of Shows in Louisville Kentucky. The one you have is in much better condition.

    Nice find!
