    Big ammo ????

    Hi Guys
    Not sure if this is right form? Found these big ammo shells.
    that are 8 1/4 inchs long
    1 5/8 inchs in dia.
    marked on top
    parachute cartridge white to green
    on side marked
    S.F.Co mudgersfo No36 (not sure hard to read)
    Base marked
    eley london
    found these in gun shop i am cleaning out. not sure what they are an what to do with them. they were in 50cal ammo can nice an dry.

    I'm wondering if it might be one of the type that was used by bombers for illuminating the targets. They would have a downward launching box of these barrels that were loaded with something like that. I know you have a screwdriver beside it and have published the measurements...but it's still hard to put in perspective...others will be along shortly...

    thank you Jim for your input. yes they look like a jumbo shot shell. thought they might be of british service due to eley manufactor. also dont want to get my self in any trouble if i sell them. thanks mike

    That would make sense Tom. I wondered if it might fit a gun like our 38mm gas guns. Had it been shorter that would have been my guess.

    that is what is throwning me off is the lenght og these cartridges. wouldnt mind seeing one in use either.
