My First Mosin Nagant M44 carbine

I picked it up because the price was low for a M44 with all matching numbers and in good condition. Any info from the experts.

As my neighbor Jerry Lee has been known to say "Great Balls O fire" . Though I do not think he had an M44 in mind when he came up with the saying it seems describe firing one pretty well.

Hah, isn't that the truth. I don't take my m44s to the range anymore. I got tired of explaining what it was to the 15 people lined up behind me. Just shoot them in the woods now. I hardly shoot them with the bayo extended though, I just aim a few inches to the right and its fine... or was it to the left?

*edit* Forgot to mention. I was even asked to STOP firing it at an indoor range before. The range sat under the gun shop and the shopkeep came down and said he thought the hanging lights upstairs were about to fall.

The reason for the bayonet to fixed, is that's the way they were ment to be shot [ "zeroed" if you will ]. With bayonet folded that was called travel position, with bayonet fixed it was called assault position.
There was a guy at Knob Creek gun range shooting one with the bayonet folded and couldn't hit the milk jugs he was shooting at. When a clear was called I went over to him and told him about fixing the bayonet. He gave me a if you say so type of reply [ I don't think he really believed me ]. So when the shooting started again his first shot tore up one of the jugs. He looked over at me with a surprised look, and seemed to be quite happy the rest of the day.
