A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Neat...not really rare though. Specially one with that much corrosion on the hardware.

The sling looks like the ones that were on the Greek M1icon's.

Would make sense. They'd have been given everything on the shelf, I'll bet the FSN is the same for nylon as it is for cotton web.

I have one of those slings. I'm not sure what the white stuff on the metal is but mine has it too. It's a white powder that wipes off. The metal looks fine underneath it but the powder comes back after awhile. It's kind of weird.

Was issued one of the same slings in Okinawa in '81 to go to the range with. It was on every rifle I qualified with afterwards. Still have it. Cheers, Bruce.
