    Toggle rope toggle

Since I have a lathe a mate has asked me to make a Commado/Ranger toggle rope. would someone kindly be able to provide the dimensions of the toggle, from a previous post I see the ropes were were 6' long and 1/2" hemp or manila and the toggle is 4" long but I don't have the diameter or the shape of the taper.

    Thanks in Advance

There most likely were specs for the toggle and likely they were not followed with much faith as there was a war on. I have found on many Brit plans allowance for local changes. Getting the job done seemed more important at this stage, and I think the Brits had finally learned this by DDay. But still, there were most likely specs. Try looking at Brit re-enactor sites for toggle ropes for an idea of what it should look like. I made one simply by using a belt sander to taper the toggle and cut the grove by hand.

Cheers, I made a couple up that looked right, from the images I have seen they vary greatly from a sharp taper to none at all on some.
