    Need poor condition SMLE barrel

    Hi folks,

I am looking for a beat up, crappy, non-restorable, non-shooting SMLE barrel that I can use for a display/instructional project. It doesn't need a good crown or any sights (you can keep the front sight if you wish)---it just needs to be at least 16 inches long.

I hope someone can help me out. I will pay whatever is reasonable. Please send me a PM.

    Thanks!
    JC

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Thanks for recommendation. I spoke with Brian Dickicon, but he is all out at the moment.

"beat up, crappy, non-restorable, non-shooting SMLE barrel".............

That's about the only sort that is left out there.

I have a few; they are handy for swapping into rifles with "good" barrels, that are destined for "de-activation". The steel is excellent for making bushings, odd washers, etc. However, I doubt that shipping to California from Oz is an economic proposition for anybody but the "revenooers" and the shipping companies.

BinO is dead right. The material is superb bearing in mind its age and cuts as smooth as butter. Makes cutting on a lathe pleasurable!
