New find MA Lithgow S.M.L.E MkIII* 1941

Just pick up at a local gun show paid $325. with bayonet. My 308 Ishapore needed a friend.
Any help with marking will be appreciated. Wood has no cracks or rework and barrel has good rifling. thanks

The R over MA over 47 on the butt indicates a refurb in 1947. However, there's no way of knowing for sure if this is the rifle that was refurbed when the butt was stamped.

Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
