Jim I know the post is a few months old but do you have any hits on an M1898 Kragicon 160854? The story allegedly is that is was in Cuba and the Phillipines. I doubt it the rifle looks to good, and was probably made to late. Thanks in advance !

I can't bid on any of them as I'm Canadianicon. It would take more money than sense to get it here after bidding. IF the guy would even send it...

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. 160848 was a rifle that was sent to FA for velocity tests. The next number is well beyond that. Your rifle is 1898 according to this site... U.S. Military Dates of Manufacture As for exactly where it's been, hard to say. We'd love to see pics though.

I don't know about 96 carbines, but Shockley wrote that Army units leaving Manila had to turn in their 92 and 96 rifles, so they could be issued new 98 rifles. 99 carbines might not have hit Manila yet, I don't know.

Not even close, you're nearly at the end of the line...1903 according to the source above in post 2. The next rifles to it are 300 away sort of thing.
