A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Robert:

Nothing in SRS DCM Rifle Sales, but there are quite a few 1,227,XXX serial numbers in SRS Volume 2 listed as USATC (US Army Troops in China). He lists 28 rifles from 1226420 to 1228680 as USATC with Companies E, F, G, I, K, and Service, 15th Infantry, including 1227403, 1227411, 1227418, and 1227454. Does this mean 1227430 was in that bunch that went to China?

    Beats me.................

I don't have SRS Volume 4 to check there, but I do have the DCM Rifle Sales, and SRS Volumes 1,2,and 3.
