I just found this tonight going through my grandma and great grandma's costume jewelry. I've been googling for hours and trying image searches, but I can't figure out if it's a dog tag or something else. My husband doesn't think it's military, but I can't figure out what else it could be

It`s a dog tag, a real DOG not a SOLDIER !...................

Yup, or a rabies shot tag. A memento of a lost pet perhaps.
