FN Short Carbine Mystery Mauser

Hello everyone - I haven't posted here for a while.
I just haven't had any posers I guess.

This rifle is a mystery to me.
Recently acquired - it was a gamble.....

In any case I appear to have found myself a nice little FN Model 1924 Carbine in 7.92X57
Unfortunately someone has lightly sanded the stock. I hate that but - oh well...

But who was it intended for?
As you can see there are no markings what so ever on the receiver. Yes we've seen that before with the M48bo series and a few others.

The serial number is '68' and is matching on metal components

I thought perhaps this might have been a Moroccan M1950 - they were made with blank receivers - wrong calibre - should be 30-06 or 308 if it's Moroccan right?

Then I thought maybe this is a Dutch Police FN 1948 Carbine. Calibre is right but it really should have the receiver Crown over 'J' or 'L'....

Then I figured maybe this is the Ethiopian M1924 Carbine. The chambering is correct....

Then I thought maybe this is a Model 1930 Chinese Carbine but these didn't have a bayonet lug.

So I'm left thinking this may have just been a Fabrique Nationale factory run that never made it to market...

In any case - she's a nice blonde.... Your opinions?

Maybe not much help. But it´s what in Germany is commonly called a "Zollkarabiner" - a short carbine issued to customs officials and border police units.

Scrubbed receiver, completely reblued even the bolt, refurbished stock, force matched serial number. It will make a nice shooter that kicks like a mule.

Agree,
totally refinished gun, look to the bolt handle where there is a significant ding yet the bolt shows full (if wavy) finish, and the rear sight leaf should be polished bright.

It is a Belgian FN that has been worked over by Mitchell's Mausers......................

Unlikely to be a Mitchell Mauser Tanker. Those are new guns made by Zastava. The Zastava guns all come with Beech stocks - this looks like french walnut.

Looks like a Mitchell Tanker Mauser. But not sure. Not French Walnut, liley European Elm? Just a guess. Lots of Yugo SKS's have the same stock. I don't doubt it kicks like a mule!

Well that answers the question I posted to your latest youtube video featuring this rifle. I was kind of hoping it was not a one off as I want one for myself!

I'll bet cast 180's @ 2100-2300 fps would tame that recoil ! What a great "tight timber" carbine. I want one !!
