Stratton's nooks are Handy but be careful as there are many mistakes. The author is deceased so no corrected editions are coming out. Best used in conjunction with Skennerton
's books. "Trust but verify".

I'll second the remark on mistake/errors. I'm afraid that all of Stratton's books about UK small arms seem to suffer from them.

And yet, it's not a bad starting point for new collectors/ users. By the time you have had several dozens of these rifles even the Skennerton books don't answer all questions- then you turn to this forum!. Unfortunately most of us have little time for original research and have to rely on these references. We are, however, way better off than Mosin-Nagant collectors who face the dual problems of few published books and original government documents in Russian.

At least for me it answered a lot of basic questions, it is laid out sensibly, and has many illustrations; a good beginning for my literature library.
