Would a scan of the photo be possible?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). When I run the image through Tin Eye, there are several higher resolution versions of the image online, se efor example:

    or

When I look at those, I don't think the smock is made of the same loose netting such as the ones for sale.

    Rob,
You can't rely on Royal Marines to do tuition on a Ghillie suit in the photo, they think they are Batmen with a cloak like that, MUST be an officer

Perhaps these were a non-returnable item, and a short-term issue at that?

After all, they wouldn't be of much use unless plenty of scrim or vegetation was attached, and once it was, who would bother to strip it all off before turning in the garment? Besides which, the few holes provided larger than the mesh are totally insufficient for attaching scrim, and the mesh is so small it would be hard to attach any elsewhere.

And unless it has hand slits in all the right places, you would have to poke your hands up underneath it to get anything out of tunic/smock pockets etc. Could be a trifle annoying in the prone position? And if a returnable item presumably you couldn't cut slots in it where you needed them.

Doesn't look like it would it really break up outlines or camouflage better than a smock anyway. In fact, it more or less shouts "sniper" to anyone seeing the wearer, which is a sure way to attract bullets, as opposed to looking much like one's comrades.

In short, a flop designed without adequate consideration of the intended user's needs?
