1893 Spanish Mauser
Alright guys...I've had good luck finding out what I bought from forums before. I need your help once again. At the gun show in Biloxi today I got a Spanish Model 1893 Mauser. The markings are very faint. It was made by Loewe in Berlin (very faint, but you can see the "Lo"). It's chambered in 7mm. Is it possible to tell what exactly I have and determine if the rifle was used in the Spanish-American War?

If it is a LOEWE it should have the Spanish crest over Berlin 189X (year of manufacture) on top of the receiver and somewhere on the stock. On the left side of the receiver it should be marked MAUSER ESPANOL MODELO 1893 MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN.
Can you see the year of manufacture on the receiver or stock? Can you post some more pictures of markings or serial numbers on the bolt, tigger guard assembly....

The earliest Spanish mausers were made by a couple different firms until Spain started making their own. Loewe, Mauser, Oberndoff and FN were the main manufacturers. Yours definitely could have seen the Spanish American war as Loewe made them for Spain until 1898.
How does the bore look?

Patrick Ford has quite correctly** used the word "could". It is only possible to determine whether the rifle was in existence in the relevant period, not where and if it was actually in service.

Sorry guys. Forgot I posted in here. The receiver has been scrubbed pretty good during refurbishment.

The stock doesn't have any markings, except on the underside in the picture above. Looks like someone wrote something.
