    GunBroker and George

    Guys,

You may already know this, but I was looking on GunBroker and ran across a guy that goes by the name m1carbineparts.com. He tried to sell to me outside of the auction end date. Come to find out its "George". I'm new to collecting and know who he is but he seems to keep changing his "names".

Mister administrators, if this post is not acceptable please delete and advise, I'm real tired of the humpers.

George is really an interesting fellow. He used to be an active participant on these boards. I think he's afflicted with dyslexia. Which is no big deal, there are lots of folks with this affliction. Anyway, he would get wrapped around the axle when people accused him of being a crook and he'd just go off like a Roman Candle. His posts would become more strange as he went on. Poor soul.

I guess that he's still going bananas when people make him angry as he commits one fraud after another and gets away with it. A sorry, sad waste of a human being. My personal opinion is that he should be in prison.

Not being a lawyer, I don't know what the penalty is for what his company does. I do know it is deceitful. His actions have been well documented here and on other sites. Easy enough to search for. Unfortunately the old saying "buyer beware" comes into play with many sellers. He is not the only one doing this, but probably the most recognized, using different names over the years.

Time passed, collecting took off, rare parts dried up, market desire, financial gain, the reasons for such actions goes on and on. If something appears too good to be true, price or stamping, research it first. It usually is.

I turned him in to GunBroker for trying to sell outside of the auction before the auction closed. We'll see what they say as they tend to side with the sellers. With some of my past experiences the seller was deemed correct which make me wonder what their motives are, the seller fees they receive or their concerns for protecting the buyers from fraud.

    We'll see

I don't think we need to wail on George, if not on Slam-T-Bob too.

As long as this community and the "new guys" have this knowledge. I say just stop here and let's go back to our research and collecting. This really isn't any fun for me being a "humper hunter".

The intent of the forum is to share our interest and affection with the M1icon carbine. This can come from many different directions. Historical interest. Family hand me downs and stories. Someone just likes the look, feel, and fun when shooting. Maybe even personal experiences in a stressful time. The list goes on and on.

Information, the who, what, where, when, why. I like knowing this about my pieces. It is helpful in the hunt for the ever elusive find. Is it original, rebuilt, restored, imported, or maybe just shooter quality. I have some of each. That's all good. Value can be all over the place accordingly. But knowing generally where that might be is nice.

There has been, and always will be, people trying to take advantage of any situation. Bringing that to the attention of others is just another form of information. But we shouldn't be dwelling on it or wailing on anybody. It just makes me reach for the rolaids. Post, inform, then let's move on to something more interesting.

I understand your thought totally, but the damage has already been done and unfortunately it will continue as long as there's a palpable market to these guns. Greed and deceit won't always win, but one just has to look at some of the carbines and parts sold online to see it's still pretty good business.

When the cops go for a big bust they always try for the big fish. I look at it this way: if we can save one guy from getting cheated and robbed and at the same time keep a faked part out of circulation, it is well worth a few minutes to do it. All of this fake junk that winds up in someone's carbine eventually becomes legit to someone else. That is and always has been a big problem. This is like a war to preserve some of our history being prosecuted against people who don't care even a little bit about history or honor. Ignoring them is like surrendering.
