The photo was taken in the 1980's during an Arctic Exercise in Norwayicon.

That's the equipment sled that we had for that very job. It however never was invited out to the field because we were always short of man power so the regular toboggans got the use and that little one stayed home. The mount you have has a couple of hook ends for mounting on the regular 200lb toboggan, not this one. Out of 35 years done, I never used that little one once and one of my first and most enjoyed positions was Pl MG... The manufacture would likely have been CDN but I have no idea whom... The long one either for that matter... Just for the record, the exercise in Norwayicon(Ace Mobile) was never conducted like any of the others. Stand by, there are others of us here, maybe even Badger was there...

    Jim--

Thanks for picture. I have one question. I have seen the clamping sides placed in the mount two ways. The picture that you have shown with the clamps to the front and to the sides. I thought the clamps were to the side to secure the sled mount to the outer edges of the toboggan. I understand if the clamps are to the side, the front part of sled mount will slide back and forth on the mount head. If the clamps are facing forward the sled mount is a more stable platform. Which is the correct way for the clamps to be facing?

    Cheers

    Frank

The one pictured mounts across the 200lb toboggan, it fastened to the sides. The whole affair is then turned sideways to shoot. This rig doesn't work without being mounted. The little one was the 100lb toboggan as I recall...your pic shows him with the mount I sent just laying in the bottom of a flat smooth toboggan...like a set of runners. I don't recall if or how they mounted on that one. I just remember they were to be loaded with the heavies stuff in the platoon, the MG ammo and MG, and pulled by weapons det. That means 200 lbs of gear on that tiny rig digging into the snow, or distribute the weight on the big ones and share the load...
