Wierd Garand stock: ready to purchase good deal but whats with this stock?

Im being offered a really good deal on this CMPicon Garandicon but this stock and its marks are throwing me. New to Garands so curious. What the heck are these lighter marks all over this stock? Just never seen something like this. Damage or natural?

Thanks for the replies. Is a Greek rebuild just mean, at some point, it was rebuilt in Greece, but eventually the parts ended up in CMPs hands for their rebuild?

CMPicon received a bunch of Greek returns. They were "loaned" to the Greeks and we got them back through CMP. Not a huge deal really. It is still a US rifle just with a Beech replacement stock.

Not necessarily Greek as it could in fact be Danishicon.

Wierd Garand stock: ready to purchase good deal but whats with this stock?

Correct - it could be a Danishicon stock. If you field strip the rifle, you might find a small sticker inside the stock with sight in adjustments. It should be marked HMAK and with the Royal Danish Crown...

Does the stocks have any stamps or markings etc inside?

What markings are on the barrel? Some Danish Garands have been fitted with new barrels. They are marked VAR...

VAR barrels are some of the tightest barrels made, on par with LMR. I built a Beretta and a Breda, both made for the Danes (FKF marked receivers) and both have VAR Barrels. The Beretta has a Danishicon Beech, just like the stock pictured. A really sweet shooter. You'll like yours. Cheers, Bruce.
