GB's terms are five days to contact the seller. Ten days to send full payment.

It kind of depends on the sellers payment requests. As a buyer, if the seller accepts paypal, I will usually pay at the completion of the auction. Next day at worst if I wasn't watching the end of the auction.

If a personal check, I will get the check in the mail the next day.

A money order or cashiers check is another story. While I realize these make sellers feel safer with the transaction, I view them as complete pains in the butt to take care of. It requires finding a place with the hours, etc that match your ability to get there. So it might be several days until I can get all the ducks in order and get it in the mail.

With firearms going to an FFL, there is that added step to factor in as well.

And the mail is not as fast at times as it used to be due to the cutbacks, etc. I'd figure 3-5 days just for the mail.

Of course I'm also in full contact with the seller this entire time also. Letting him know when I'm getting the money order, going to the post office, and when it's on its way.

It's a two way street. I like to know when my payment arrived and when he ships. I don't always get that.

All that being said, if you don't get payment within 10 days and the buyer made no effort to tell you why he's delayed, there isn't much excuse for it other than laziness on his part.

i just tring to gauge what is accepted. seams some buyers do not care an others are on phone 10 seconds after auction ends. I do not like the one who you contact a few times an never hear back from them ever.

I try to say no time limit as such as either the buyer or seller - just so long as there is regular/daily contact. Nothing worse as a buyer or seller than being left seemingly abandoned. Just my view

I concur with Aragorn243's post. Paypal actually prohibits gun sales, but not gun parts & accessories. Getting a Money Order can be a big pain because it requires getting to a Post Office and I've not found any of them open during non-work hours, except on Saturdays, when the lines can be daunting. The buyer and seller's ratings are very important -- they tell you a lot about how well the expected transaction is going to proceed.
