    IHC parts

I know Springfield gave a lot of receivers to IHC to get production started. Did they give them other Garandicon parts ? I ask this because I picked up an early IHC and every thing was correct but a DRC elevation knob, a Springfield front sight and a PO marked gas cylinder lock screw. the rifle was produced around 6/53 I do not want to try to replace these parts if there is a chance they could be original to the rifle. thanks

I don't really know, but if the wear looked the same I would not be too quick to change them. If you change them, they may be correct for the time, but they for sure will not be original. Just my thinking. Maybe someone that knows for sure will chime in. I found a very, very late IHC that came from, the DMC, rear sights and front sight and gas cylinder, were Springfield every thing else marked IHC. I left it alone. I think early and late IHC hurt for some parts. Just my thoughts. But what do I know?

After a good cleaning the rear sight knob was marked IHC DRC so now I am just wondering about the front sight and gas plug. from the color and wear I would say they have been the rifle a long time.

I suspect they're original. If there's no problem, don't mess around they're likely correct.

I agree, but if you do change anything, keep the old parts with the rifle, you can put them back if later info shows them to be correct.
