    Early all matching Winchester

I have a fellow who has an all matching down to the extractor early model 1917 Winchester for an asking price of 1300.00. He claims when he originally purchased the rifle the bore and receiver were perfect. Over a 5 year period he searched out all of the other correct top quality components including an original nice stock.

Interesting that the Winchester seems to demand a higher price I guess based on the Winchester name and lower quantity produced..

    Eddystone 1.3 M
    Remington: 646K
    Winchester: 545K

I will post pictures as soon as I receive them.

Does 1300.00 seem unreasonable for a Winchester that's correct and in nice condition?

If he searched for the correct parts, it can't be matching, or maximum made "matching". Quite some high number this price.

Matching meaning, all "W" marked parts and or marked with the correct eagle head inspection marks, in other words no Remington or Eddystone parts in it. He spent 5 years working on this project.

I just saw one sell for 1875.00 that was correct minus the floorplate and mag follower which were marked "E".

Of course there are still deals and steals out there, and we read about the $100 finds of old junk army guns. But in general, it would be tough to find a correct Winchester for under $1,000 these days. In nice condition, it could well be a $1,300 gun at the right place and time.

I'm not prepared to spend that much, but some will.

I gave more for a nice P''14 about ten years ago. And happy to have done so, as nothing better has turned up since.
