Gun Identification please. What rifle is in this video?

    Hello everyone.

This is my first post so I hope I'm in the right place. I would like some help in identifying this assault rifle. My neighbor was robbed at gun point while I helplessly watched from across the garden. (nothing unusual here in South Africa)

Usually criminals use R1 or R5 or AK47 Rifles in South Africa, but this looks like something different? Does anyone know what this rifle is? Its from our security camera so I uploaded it to youtube so it can be watched easily:

    Thank you so much.

It's not an assault rifle. It's an Uzi sub-machine gun.

This just makes me sick to my stomach. Its illegal here for any civilian to own any sort of automatic weapon. Its also illegal to shoot an intruder in your home, even if he is armed. I've only ever seen and heard of uzi's in movies, and these animals all have them now in my neighborhood. Thanks for your answer, although I must admit I'm very depressed now.

It looks like a Czechicon Vz26 submachinegun without the folding stock. Large numbers were given to African resistance movements in the 1960's and 1970's.

    Cheers

On second viewing I'll go along with that. I thought the same of the Uzi, butt stock removed.

It seems as though only part of the SA government's attempt to deal with the country's gun problem is working - taking guns off law abiding citizens and scrapping museum pieces.

My impression was that it was a MAC10, but I could be wrong. It appeared to have the 'wire' stock folded.

Looks like one of Czechicon Sa vz series (23 through 26) SMGs to me. It might have the butt removed. A lot were smuggled into Africa '07 to '09 also.

    They have some interesting features.

Thanks guys, this may help us in a pvt investigation.
I must say that knowing all the criminals around us now have sub-machine guns is very unsettling.

Does it really matter if they have an SMG or a machete?

    Why are you still there?
