Eddystone 1917 & Kerr Sling install issue

Guys I guess I'm an idiot, but I don't see any way of installing a Kerr sling on my 1917 as the ends of the sling with the clips will not fit and pass through the sling swivel loops on the frontend of the stock or the butt end. I take it the clips on the sling are to attach to the D rings on the sling with the web looping through the swivel loops? What's the secret?
    Any help would be appreciated.

You have to snap them into the sling swivel and then pass the rest of the metal through from there. You'll see once you snap it into the loop...

Pictures are worth a thousand words . Place sling with the slide's seam side toward gun . Front goes through " hook out " from breach side , loops through sling's front loop , then back to the front swivel from the breach side , hook down again . Rear should then be easy .
    Kerr Sling Instructions
I'm guessing you are installing a M1917 Kerr . A Springfield Kerr or M3 Thompson sling may not have the loose loop the rear hook snaps into and they are shorter .
