    Number on Type 38.

    Picked up this pretty nice early 'B' barrel Koishikawa Friday...curious about the number '103' right behind the rear sight. Never have seen this before.

    that number is a rack number stamped on the rifle when it was taken out of service and relegated to school and military academy use. The Koishikawa arsenal logo can still be seen on top of the ground mum. that was done when the rifle left military service.
