Could you trace some of the heritage and time periods involved by the scratch marks??

We used to scratch the workshop and date on the case back. Same as some used to scratch the same on the inner tube or ocular housing of No32's. I saw 11/52 recently

Most repair marks on the inside of the cases are reference numbers or the watchmakers identification number. That's one of the reasons I put the date as well, when I overhaul a watch. For example: AWR 915

Here to add a little more variation to the knowledge pool..

A number of years ago I purchased this watch then proceeded to learn what I could about it. I joined a military timepiece collectors group but unfortunately I cannot find the information I saved on it.

From what I best recall, the GSTP was a stopgap model while watches that met the standard of "Pocket Watch, GS MkII" could be sourced to meet the increased demand at the beginning of WW2. IIRC the GSTP had a 7 jewel movement, where the GS MkII called for a 15 jewel movement. (happy to take corrections on any of this... working from memory only ATM)
Once movements were available, they were fitted into a standard case made by Dennison Watch Case Ltd, in the UK. There were a few different makers of movements, mine being a Moise Dreyfuss from Switzerland.
The movement manufacturers serial number is on the face and the movement, and carried forward onto the UK made case, the DoD serial number on the back also being this number. The case components had their own numbering from Dennison's as well.
Happy to say this watch is all matching and in working order.
If anyone can add to my knowledge or correct any mistakes, I am all ears!
Can this watch be dated by it's serial number, gsimmons? I don't recall any extra scratched marks at all, but happy to get it out and pop it open for a look...
