C1/C1A1 TMH assemblies were available in quantity many years ago from places like Sarco and Numrich. We built a couple of the rifles including the one I still have using early Entreprise receivers and Australianicon barrels since Canadianicon barrels other than the C2 heavies were never available in the lower 48 in quantity. Like Peter, I'd guess your TMH was numbered and proofed to match by the commercial builder although I suppose some used ones may have been available with those markings. All of the ones we bought at the time for our builds were nos and unnumbered. I never endeavored to have C1A1 markings or proofs engraved on mine. It is what it is and shoots great.

Your rifle traces back to the late Pat Jones, doesn't it? He used to offer custom engraving services for FN's and SLRs, including Canadian markings.

Other than that, the only other sources (both pretty unlikely) for an original marked lower I could think of would be a.) an ex-Ontario Provincial Police rifle that went first to Britainicon, then came back to the Canadian civil market before the ban, or b.) an ex-civilian-sale rifle that got parted out. I understand a *few* of the ex-OPP rifles made it into the US as parts kits.

I recall that Pat went through two different 8L's (both engraved with 8L4283 as I recall), and the engraving work he offered was excellent.

Pat sounds like he was a very interesting chap, I only hear people talk about him with the very highest regard.

Certainly well justified, looking at the wonderful standard of his builds and his extensive knowledge on the subject.

The other 8L as I recall had a different upper receiver and a longer butt stock. Adam7.62 claimed he actually built the 8L although the fact is Pat Jones was involved in the manufacture stage of the barrel and front sight and parts. Pat had a tutorial on the barrel and assembly of the front sight as I remember. Pat had a great inch and some metric inventory at a reasonable price. He is still remembered and missed.

He bought quite a few parts from me including the little stamped front sight ears for the late C1A1 gas block. He was doing all of the R&D and period builds complete with engraving. I used to see him twice a year at the Knob Creek show in KY. He also got boxes of early milled C1 magazine catches and "beehive" milled body locking levers which are also correct on early Australianicon SLR rifles. I had quite a few of them. All new in 100 count boxes.

I believe that was the C1A1 parts kit on the FAL Files market place was the one I picked up less the barrel as i have a couple of new DSA made inch barrels from several years ago. The metal parts and wood are like NOS.
I am considering building an early C1 with the magazine cuts similar to the metric designed cuts. Converting the metric receiver to inch in not difficult as I have done several over the years.
