Erma E M1 Carbine front sight

I just purchased a 1968 vintage E M1icon on GunBroker and discover the front sight is missing. Too late to return the purchase. Can anyone direct me to a source for a front sight? The remainder of the carbine is in nice shape so I plan on keeping it.

I'm looking on Ebay and GB, but none listed.

Try this one do not know if they are still going https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&r...abNEkFuxd-s2LA
I had one in the late 70's ERMA EM-1 in 22 Mag with a 12 shot mag quite a sweet thing to shoot do not ask me why but I had a scope fitted to it about the worst thing I could have done as occasionally the fired cases hit the bottom of the tube and bounced right back and jammed the action easy to clear bad luck if you waned a quick second shot.
It did claim a fox one day, I was out hunting crows in some heavy -medium scrub I was moving positions when lo and behold not 20 meters from me a fox stuck its head out from under some bushes it was pushing through. Its eyes popped out of its head I said WT* shouldered the weapon and through the scope just got where he had just turned as the leaves were still moving. I was using Winchester 22 mag bullets so I fired 2 quick shots at where he departed from and thought that was that. When I checked on that spot sure enough there he was dead as with 2 rounds in his back all in the space of 3 seconds but it felt like forever to shoulder the rifle and fire 2 rounds at moving leaves. Then sometime later on the same property when hunting roo's I had my Marlin 444 ooops thats another WT* moment!!!!!

    Cinders,
Thanks, I have already sent them an e-mail a day ago. They show the sight as available, but who knows.

Well, it took almost 3 months but I acquired a sight from Bob's and had it gunsmith installed. My first outing with it today proved the front sight blade is too high. It shot about 4 inches low at 50 feet. I will take a file with me on my next range visit and lower the sight blade as needed.

Cycling is inconsistent. I will field strip the action and flush it out good with Gun Scrubber before the next trip to the range. If that doesn't work I'll have to try different brands of ammunition to see if that solves it.

    Wish me luck.

Ammo does play a part, these are all factory cartridges? How's the piston look?

    Jim,

Pardon me...you're referring to the .22 aren't you? Yes, ammo is a big player. Sometimes a complete strip and clean is in order.

I returned to the range again today with file in hand. After about 1/2 hour and a bit of filing after every 5 rounds I had the EM-1 consistently hitting the X ring at 50' on a Bullseye 50' target (dime sized groups).

I still need to work on cycling issues.

We seldom see those here but last Halloween show had two appear there. Didn't look at prices and don't know if they sold though...
