Just received this one today....lots of British proofs, it's a regular hand cannon. Love it!

All I could ever find was a Brazilian(?) gun, I always wanted a nice US property model. The Brit proofs wouldn't have hurt my feelings either. They ARE big, mine was so worn it didn't work right and I sold it and bought a 625. Very nice find, even the wear and tear marks are nice...

Many years ago, I bought a F.D.L. rear sight for my S&W Model 1915 Type 2, just remove the top plate screw and attach the FDL sight. You have both windage and elevation now.

Will fit the Model 1917 S&W and South American post WW1 models too, these FDL rear sight are used a lot in South America even today. Difficult to find now but still around

I actually always wanted a Brazilian as, despite being the same pistol as the U.S. version generally, they are typically significantly less.

From what I understand the Brazilian's used to be able to be had very cost effectively. Of course the same can be said for *many* items that are now priced into the stratosphere.

Once upon a time you could get a FTR'ed Inglis for $259 all day long or a P08 re-arsenaled in the Ukraine for $299

Here in Canada we imported cases of them back in the '80s. They were new and yes, affordable. They dried up and haven't been seen since. Very few pure US models surface here.

About 5 years ago, and before....Brazilian examples were EVERYWHERE here. Majority were were worn out, but I always liked that bid Brazilian crest that was on the frame. Now I can't find one to save my life. Guess I need one now to put alongside this one!

Thanks for posting the F.D.L. rear sight information. One thing that I always did with the S&W WW1 revolvers was change that "thick" military mainspring for a new S&W Model N frame mainspring. which will improve
your shooting.
