I often wonder if any Malaya/Singapore allied POW's had a fairly easy time after capture. Although 'easy time' is relative of course! We had a fair few former FEPOW's still working at our camps in Aust and NZicon as grounds and maintenance staff during the 60's. One that I got very friendly with told me that they did have a fairly easy time initially following capture while doing cleaning up, road repairs, bridge repairs in Singapore etc etc under the Japaneseicon but it was after the first couple of months when the Koreans took over the guard duties that things changed for the worse.

But some must have been mess orderlies, cooks, cleaners and the like..........

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Thanks for that, guys. As I said, I had read of Barb's part in it and the rest of the story from their perspective but it was nice to fill in the details with photo and movie info as well!
