Heavily pitted, but if the price on the rifle is right you can always find a replacement barrel.

It appears to be in typical shape. Mine shoots 2" on a good day. How's the crown would be my next question.

    it confirms my first impression.
I didn't get a proper picture of the crown, and a barrel replacement costs between 200-300 euro...and only lw barrels are easily available in Franceicon.

Although pitted/frosty, more important would be the throat and muzzle erosion measurements.

Sounds like you are looking for a shooter - are the parts correct or a mixmaster?

    find another example
if your in Franceicon...the cost to repair correctly would be more then the value of the rifle

Yes I'm looking for a nice shooter, but rarely available...the whole rifle seems to be a true REM.
The serail number begins with 315xxxx (I can't give the full number, the rifle isn't mine)and the top of the bore is dated 7-42 with the flaming bomb.
The bolt is marked "R",but the left side of the stock is a bit damaged.
I will cancel my booking this evening.

The rifle is made up of later parts - a M1903A3 bolt and a later stamped trigger guard for starters. The barrel is correct/original.

Thank you for the technical advice, I have canceled my buying option.
I think I must now wait for a long time to find what I'm looking for....
    Regards
