"Been there, done that" 603 Retro porn

Yes, I know it is an A2 lower...but, less the lower and lower parts kit, I have just over $600 into the build. "There are many Retros. but this one is mine!" Besides. it has a custom 1/7 twist A1 pencil barrel, so I can shoot everything from 55 grn M193 to 77 grain MK262 MOD1!

I agree. This is the AR platform I learned to shoot in 1974. This is how Eugene Stoner and his team intended the AR15 to be: light and powerful. The difference weight-wise between this and and a goo-gahed up M4 is unbelievable! Also, the effectiveness of the M193 round from a 20" barrel compared to the M855 from a 14.5" barrel is incredible. From a rifle, M193 yaws and fragments at 200 to 250 yards. M855 from a M4 is limited to 75 to 80 yards for the same amount of yaw and fragmentation! If I had to choose which to use in combat, either an M16A1 or an M4, the M16A1 wins hands down. This one with the 1/7 twist can shoot MK262 MOD1 77 grain Sierra Match King OTMs out to 300 yards, break up and devastate and still be delivering 800 Ft Lbs of energy into the target. This is a "Dream 603 Clone." Best of the old (the simple platform) and the new, MK262 MOD1!

While I would love to have an NDS M16A1 or 601 lower, I could not see spending the scratch ($160) on one, when I have my A2 Anderson I paid for. Besides, this is a late (beat up) 603 upper with the almost black finish of the Export 613 models. The Barrel is the most expensive thing on here.

I have been getting emails and IMs asking about the source of the 1/7 retro barrel. Lionel Lin, AKA Boywonder777 on Gunbroker and AR15.com had a bunch (about 20 units) made up by John Thomas (master retro-smith) of RetroArmsWorks.com .

They are new CMMG 20" 1/7" twist A1 profile pencil barrels, Colt M16A1 FSB and sight, Colt M16icon birdcage flash hider and correct split washer, a flat slip ring group (with weld spring, and snap ring, and barrel nut). Demill handguards, that need repair, are available. They also come with Colt M16 gas tube and roll pin. He still has some. He sells for $275 Buy it now on Gunbroker. I have been dealing with Lionel for years, and he is a straight up guy, and a first class vendor. I get nothing from this plug, but know that a lot of you guys like retros but don't want 1/12 barrels, or even 1/9! He also sells lots of other retro AR and standard AR parts.

    His email is: iams0b3@gmail.com

Very Sweet! I want an NDS XM lower SO bad...

If you get an AIM Surplus Nickel Boron BCG, like I did, it looks just like XM16E1 chrome BCG.
