    If it's the similar to the Thompson SMG ratio then it'd be about 7% lost. The U-boat commercial targets were generally tankers and freighters with deck cargo which would indicate aircraft or tanks/vehicles

    I doubt it very much. at the time of the major shipment (1940) the Kriegsmarine had few ocean-going U-Boats and had not yet built up their presence on the Frenchicon Atlantic Coast.
