With a scrubbed crest, it's a lot steep. It's also very dependent on the condition of the rifle. My price guide lists an excellent example at $450, very good at $300, good at 250. Now if it had the crest that would be another matter. You could easily expect to pay double those prices. Chances are it's in the good to very good range because that's where most are. Most of these do match so that's not all that unusual. Cleaning rods get mixed up occasionally.

I get a lot of rifles from Cabelas but I rarely pay anything for them so the next question is whether you have points or not, how many and if you are willing to give them up for a high priced rifle. I have "paid" Cabelas higher prices on occasion because I have no out of pocket. You can also ask them if they will take any less. If they just got it, they probably won't but if it's been sitting a few weeks or a few months, they may make a deal. The gun library has that ability.

Personally, I would not pay that much even with points, it's just too high, but that's me. I'm not looking for a good shooter or specific rifle. I paid $100 for my 1891 at a gun show about 8 months ago. It has a shootable but worn bore, the stock needed cleaned badly and was missing it's cleaning rod.

The Argentines are pretty common so the higher prices only seem to match very good quality examples.

Thanks, I looked at it again today and noticed it had been lightly sanded because of wood to metal fit. Otherwise, it was 90% cond. but I wasn't going to pay $100-$150 more than I should.
